5 Tips to Make Your New Year's Resolutions Stick

Posted by Practical Paper Co. on

We just can't resist the charm of a good set of new year's resolutions. The challenge lies in making those resolutions a lasting part of our lives. We love seeing you succeed, so here are our most practical tips to help you stay committed to those goals.

1. Define Clear Goals: Start by putting your resolutions on paper. Clearly define your goals and break them down into manageable tasks. Having a visual roadmap keeps you focused and motivated. This could be as simple as using a notebook to jot down your thoughts and plans. Start by brainstorming, rather than trying to make your first draft pretty!

2. Progress Tracking with Visuals: Implement colorful trackers and charts to monitor your progress. Visualizing your achievements can be a powerful motivator. We love using pretty stationery to create a visual representation of our goal-achieving journey, then hanging up our work or using it as a book mark in our planner so we see it daily.  You can even download our free printable goal tracking page!

3. Set Realistic Timelines: Resolutions often fail when the timeline is unrealistic. Use your planner to set achievable deadlines for each step your goal will require. Breaking down your goals into smaller, more manageable pieces with realistic time frames makes the journey less overwhelming.  You may even want to simply set the deadlines for each step, and see where your final goal timeline ends, rather than picking an end date first.

4. Cultivate Positive Habits: Create a daily routine that reinforces positive habits. Dedicate a section in your planner to daily affirmations or inspirational quotes. These reminders will help you stay focused and maintain a positive mindset throughout the year. Follow positive social media accounts and surround yourself with people who share your uplifting outlook!

5. Celebrate Achievements: Don't forget to celebrate the small wins! Use a journal to document your achievements, no matter how small. Journaling provides a space to reflect on your progress, acknowledge your efforts, and stay motivated for the journey ahead.

Success is a journey, not a destination. With a little organization and a positive mindset, you're well on your way to making those resolutions a permanent part of your lifestyle.

Cheers to a year filled with achievement and growth!
